Thursday, August 25th, 2005, Day 2 of our Glacier Bay & Tracy Arm/Inside Passage Cruise Posted by Picasa
Our day began with a brisk walk around the deck. Which reminds me, at 4:00 p.m. yesterday, on Day 1, we had the compulsory lifeboat drill at Station 4. Our pictures weren't great -- whose would be? -- those lifejackets make you look as big as an Orca!, so Sue resisted buying them for our collection. OK back to the walk -- three times around equals one mile. So we did that.

Then to breakfast, open seating, guess what number? 67, that's 13 in numerology! where we planned our day and what we'd be wearing for our first formal dinner night. At precisely 10:30 in the Frans Hals (never did find out who he was, some Dutchman I guess) Lounge we couldn't miss Michael No Last Name's fun and informative lecture. Front row seats ensured we'd catch some of his give-aways, like I caught the gold charm bracelet that would work if my name was Di, or it could remind me of all the diamonds I didn't buy at Diamonds International in Juneau & Skagway! We decided Michael liked shopping too much so I didn't flirt with him.

We all went to Park West Gallery's Champagne Art Auction on the Ocean Bar, Deck 5 long enough to have a fluke, I mean flute! Sue & Cath ditched Maureen and me for some Alaskan naturalist's talk on "Whales of the North Pacific". We had heard it all already in National Geographic's "Blue Oceans", right Mo? ;-), so we decided to stay and bid on a couple of Picaso's and a Rembrandt. Am I ever glad I wasn't the highest bidder! My art collection couldn't have handled them. We did go away with a memento signed seriolithograph by Dani Shkelqim (born in Albania) aptly entitled "The Moment". Maybe I'll put it in the silver picure frame I was given as a prixe at the end of the cruise, but I'm getting ahead of myself...
