How exciting is this? Ian, our Assistant Cruise Director and cute as a button (as Sue would say) asked me if I would agree to be Ms. Volendam and that he would also choose a Mr. Volendam. I'm game I said; what do I have to do? Nothing, he said, except when one of the passengers asked me if I was Ms. Volendam during the cruise, I would take down their name and cabin number and they would become the winner of some nice prizes that I would win too just for being Ms. Volendam. It was fun going back to our table and telling the girls I had a secret that I could tell them then or surprise them at the end of the week. They chose to be surprised and keeping that secret suited me just fine, until a couple of days later, when just bursting with the secret, I begged Maureen to let me tell her which I did and she faithfully kept my secret until I was disclosed on Tuesday night, the eve of the end of our cruise. Just to hear Sue shreak (Cath heard Sue shreak so loudly she called us on the 'phone to be sure Sue was alright) was worth the wait ! "Chrissie, she said, you've been chosen Ms. Volendam!" "Sue, I replied, I know -- that was my secret from the beginning!" What great fun that was ! And I'll let you know who Mr. Volendam turned out to be later and who my discoverer was...
